The Ministry of
Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations has taken further steps to
strengthen Ghana’s digital public infrastructure through an early market
engagement session held under the Ghana Digital Acceleration Project (GDAP).
The engagement brought
together industry stakeholders and prospective service providers to deliberate
on two key national initiatives: the development of a new eGovernment Services
Portal and the upgrade and modernization of Ghana’s National Data Centres.
According to the Ministry,
the session formed part of preparatory processes aimed at ensuring that the
design and implementation of the projects benefit from industry expertise and
best practices. It also provided a platform for dialogue on technical requirements,
operational expectations, and opportunities for collaboration.
The planned eGovernment
Services Portal is expected to serve as a unified digital platform for
accessing public services, improving efficiency, transparency, and citizen
engagement across government institutions.
The upgrade of the National
Data Centres is intended to strengthen the country’s digital backbone by
enhancing security, resilience, and capacity to support growing demand for
digital public services.
The Ministry said the
engagement was also aimed at gathering feedback from industry players to ensure
that the initiatives are aligned with evolving technological standards and user
needs.
Officials noted that the
projects are a key component of Ghana’s broader digital transformation agenda,
which seeks to build secure, resilient, and citizen-centred digital
infrastructure to improve public service delivery.
The Ministry added that
continued collaboration with the private sector will be essential in achieving
the objectives of the Ghana Digital Acceleration Project and accelerating the
country’s transition to a fully digital public service ecosystem.
