The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Emma Theofelus, has called on Telecom Namibia to adopt a sustainable business model that ensures profitability while maintaining quality service delivery to the public.

She made the remarks during the Telecom Namibia Annual General Meeting held on 01 June 2026 in Windhoek.

The Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening Telecom Namibia’s position as a commercial state-owned enterprise capable of competing effectively in the telecommunications sector while continuing to serve national communication needs. She also reaffirmed the Ministry’s support in restoring and enhancing the company’s reputation as a reliable service provider.

Telecom Namibia Board Chairperson, Ms. Patricia Hauuanga, noted that ongoing investment in network modernization is critical to improving service quality. She indicated that ageing infrastructure continues to contribute to network disruptions and service challenges.

She added that the company has developed a long-term modernization plan aimed at upgrading infrastructure to meet growing demand and improve overall service performance.

The AGM brought together members of the Telecom Namibia Board, management, and government representatives to review operational performance and discuss strategic priorities for the company.

Stakeholders reiterated the importance of aligning business sustainability with infrastructure development to ensure improved connectivity and service delivery across Namibia.
