Djibouti is intensifying
preparations for its first National Forum on Artificial Intelligence, scheduled
to take place on September 2 and 3, 2026, at the People’s Palace.
The Ministry Delegate in
charge of Digital Economy and Innovation (MDENI) held a working session to
review progress towards the inaugural forum and coordinate the remaining
preparations ahead of the event.
The meeting provided an
opportunity for stakeholders involved in the organisation of the forum to
assess ongoing activities and align on the next steps for the September
gathering.
The National Artificial
Intelligence Forum is expected to provide a platform for policymakers,
technology stakeholders and other actors to discuss the opportunities and
challenges associated with the development and use of artificial intelligence
in Djibouti.
Discussions at the forum
will focus on emerging AI issues, practical applications and the technology’s
future prospects, as Djibouti seeks to strengthen its digital transformation
agenda and explore the potential contribution of AI to national development.
The inaugural event is also
expected to support broader dialogue on how artificial intelligence can be
developed and deployed responsibly while addressing the opportunities and
challenges emerging from rapid advances in the technology.
The forum will be held under
the theme of artificial intelligence and its uses and prospects, with the
organisers continuing consultations and coordination ahead of the two-day
event.
The September gathering is
expected to mark an important step in Djibouti’s efforts to establish a
national dialogue on artificial intelligence and its implications for the
country’s digital economy.
