The National Information
Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-Uganda) has partnered with the Office of the
Director of Public Prosecutions (NSW) to strengthen the capacity of prosecutors
and law enforcement personnel in handling ICT-related offences and cybercrime
cases.
The partnership is
supporting a capacity-building training focused on ICT laws, cybercrime
investigations and electronic evidence under the Uganda Digital Acceleration
Project (UDAP-GovNet).
The training brings together
state prosecutors, legal experts and law enforcement facilitators to enhance
knowledge and practical skills required to investigate and prosecute cybercrime
cases.
The first day of the
training covered Uganda’s ICT legal framework and its foundations, warrants and
lawful access, forensic management in cybercrime investigations, and effective
management of physical crime scenes.
The programme is aimed at
strengthening the understanding of legal and investigative procedures involved
in cybercrime cases, particularly as digital technologies become increasingly
central to criminal investigations and evidence management.
