Senegal and The Gambia have
agreed to accelerate the implementation of their digital cooperation agreement,
with a focus on connectivity, cybersecurity, capacity building and digital
transformation.
Senegal’s Minister of
Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf, paid a working visit to
Banjul to review the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
signed between the two countries in the fields of telecommunications and digital
technology.
During discussions with his
Gambian counterpart and technical teams from both countries, the parties
reviewed the roadmap for implementing the agreement and identified initial
priorities for translating the MoU into concrete programmes.
The two sides agreed to
adopt a pragmatic and results-oriented approach, with cooperation projects to
be advanced according to their level of maturity and the priorities identified
by the two countries.
Key areas discussed included
expanding digital connectivity, strengthening cybersecurity capabilities,
developing human and technical capacity, and advancing digital transformation
initiatives.
The engagement is intended
to move bilateral cooperation beyond the framework of the agreement and towards
practical projects that can deliver tangible benefits to citizens and
businesses in Senegal and The Gambia.
