Mozambique’s Prime Minister,
Dr Benvinda Levi, has urged the National Institute of Information and
Communication Technologies (INTIC) to accelerate and expand the Digital
Certification System across all sectors of the State to support a more secure,
efficient and digitally enabled public administration.
The Prime Minister made the
recommendation on September 5, 2026, during a visit to the INTIC stand at the
61st edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM 2026), as part of the
official closing programme of the event.
During the visit, Levi was
briefed on INTIC’s initiatives and technological solutions, with particular
attention to digital transformation, cybersecurity, certification and
licensing.
INTIC presented initiatives
aimed at creating a safe and reliable digital ecosystem while supporting the
modernisation of public services and improving the relationship between
government and citizens.
Levi specifically directed
INTIC to advance the implementation of digital certification and ensure its
wider adoption across government institutions.
Digital certification is
considered an important component of digital transformation because it can
strengthen the authenticity, integrity and security of electronic documents and
transactions.
Its wider adoption could
also support the digitisation and simplification of administrative procedures,
reduce reliance on paper-based processes, improve the efficiency of public
services and strengthen public confidence in government digital platforms.
The Prime Minister’s
directive comes as Mozambique continues to prioritise digital transformation as
part of efforts to modernise public administration and improve service
delivery.
INTIC is therefore expected
to accelerate the deployment of digital trust solutions capable of supporting
the growing digital needs of citizens, businesses and public institutions.
Through its participation in
FACIM 2026, INTIC also showcased its work to citizens, partners and other
stakeholders in the digital ecosystem, highlighting the importance of
regulation, cybersecurity, data governance and digital certification in
creating a secure and trusted digital environment.
