MTN South Sudan is expanding
reliable and sustainable connectivity across the country, with more than 500
network sites modernised through its partnership with CREI and support from
development finance partners including Finnfund.
The modernisation programme
has helped increase population broadband coverage from 76.6% to 85%, while
network availability has improved from 97% to 99%, strengthening access to
reliable connectivity for communities across South Sudan.
The partnership is also
supporting the development of more sustainable network infrastructure. Hybrid
solar and battery solutions deployed across supported sites have helped reduce
diesel consumption by more than 50%, contributing to lower reliance on diesel-powered
network operations.

Bodibe said improved connectivity could unlock significant opportunities for
rural communities by helping bridge the gap between isolation and inclusion.
“More reliable connectivity
unlocks potential just waiting to be unleashed in rural communities. With
connectivity, communities go from darkness to light; it is the difference
between isolation and inclusion,” Bodibe said.
MTN South Sudan said its
ambition remains to connect more communities and work towards achieving 100%
population coverage, while continuing to improve the reliability and
sustainability of its network infrastructure.
