Sierra Leone’s Ministry of
Communication, Technology and Innovation has continued its digital skills
training programme for civil servants, with Cohort 1 entering its second week
of training focused on practical digital tools and artificial intelligence for
government work.
The programme is being
implemented by the Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation in
collaboration with the Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs,
the Human Resource Management Office and the Public Service Academy.
The training targets staff
across ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), with the aim of equipping
civil servants with the digital skills needed to support the government’s
ongoing transition to digital operations.
During the second week,
participants in Cohort 1, which includes administrative staff, were trained to
use artificial intelligence tools to prepare official letters, memoranda,
circulars and reports.
Participants also learned
how to build digital registers using Google Workspace and manage meetings and
tasks through digital tools.
The training is expected to
contribute to faster correspondence, improved record management and clearer
follow-up of tasks and activities across government offices.
Cohort 1 is scheduled to
conclude on Friday, September 25, 2026, with each participant expected to
receive a certificate upon completion.
The ministry said a new
cohort will follow, as the government continues efforts to strengthen digital
capabilities among civil servants and support the digitalisation of public
administration.
