Nigeria’s National
Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has strengthened the digital
capacity of the National Association of Women in Colleges of Education (WICE)
through the provision of high-specification HP OmniBook laptops and digital skills
training.
The initiative was announced
at WICE’s 30th Annual National Conference, held in Bichi, Kano State, under the
theme, “Dual Mandate: Global Impact; Reimagining Teacher Education for
Sustainable Development.”
NITDA Director General
Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, represented by Christiana Simon of the agency’s Digital
Development Services Department, said the laptops would enhance the
association’s administrative and operational efficiency by supporting
documentation, information management, communication, virtual engagements and
collaboration among members.
He disclosed that NITDA had
also enrolled 1,135 WICE members in its Digital Literacy Online Courses through
the NITDA-Cisco Networking Academy platform.
To complement the online
learning initiative, the agency is supporting practical capacity building
through an in-person masterclass on productivity tools, cybersecurity and
generative artificial intelligence (AI).
The training is designed to
equip participants with practical digital skills to improve workplace
efficiency, protect digital information and responsibly apply emerging
technologies in teaching, research and administration.
Inuwa reaffirmed NITDA’s
commitment to equipping women educators with essential digital skills and
promoting technology-driven solutions to enhance teaching, research and
administrative efficiency in educational institutions.
