The Director General of the
Kenya Space Agency (KSA), Maj Gen Hillary Kipkosgey, briefed Kenya’s Ambassador to China, Willy Bett, on the agency’s key activities, national space capability development priorities, and engagements with Chinese space industry players during his visit.
Kipkosgey paid a courtesy
call on Ambassador Bett at the Kenyan Embassy in Beijing on Wednesday, 14
October 2026. The delegation included representatives from KSA and its
collaborating partner, STAR.VISION, a Chinese NewSpace company.
During the meeting, the
Director General highlighted engagements with STAR.VISION, OrienSpace Rocket
Manufacturing and Oriental Marine Spaceport Company. He also outlined
capacity-building initiatives and partnerships between KSA and STAR.VISION in
AI-powered processing and analytics of space-derived data, as well as other
potential areas of collaboration.
Ambassador Bett thanked the
Director General and delegation for the updates and reiterated the central role
of space technologies in enabling socioeconomic development.
He said space had become a
strategic domain that Kenya needed to leverage in light of its geostrategic
location. He also noted that China was a major actor in the space domain and
that Kenya needed to collaborate closely with Chinese space industry players
for the mutual benefit of both nations.
During the visit, Mr Kiragu
of STAR.VISION invited the Ambassador to witness an upcoming rocket launch,
which the company will communicate formally.
