IDA Ireland CEO Michael
Lohan has highlighted Ireland’s opportunity to become a leading location for
artificial intelligence investment and innovation, while contributing to the
development of trustworthy AI governance and regulation.
Reflecting on what he
described as a “hugely positive week for AI in Ireland,” Lohan pointed to
OpenAI’s announcement of 200 additional jobs and a new Applied AI Lab, IDA
Ireland’s Scaling Physical Intelligence forum in partnership with Analog
Devices, and the International AI Summit in Dublin, which brought together
global AI leaders, policymakers, investors and innovators.
Lohan said the week
reinforced the power of face-to-face dialogue and collaboration, noting that
realising AI’s potential would require industry, government, researchers and
innovators to work together to accelerate adoption and investment.
He also stressed the
importance of ensuring that AI develops responsibly, with the right balance
between innovation and safety.
“Achieving this requires
ongoing innovation and upskilling,” Lohan said, adding that IDA Ireland is
committed to helping its client companies transform and grow their
organisations and workforce for continued positive economic and societal
impact.
