The Ethiopian Artificial
Intelligence Institute, Addis Ababa University and the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) have concluded a ten-day training and competition
aimed at supporting the agricultural sector through artificial intelligence
(AI) technology, awarding a total of 1.2 million Birr to the top three teams.
The first-place team
received 550,000 Birr, the second-place team received 400,000 Birr, and the
third-place team was awarded 250,000 Birr at the closing ceremony of the
Agriculture Collaborative AI Studio Challenge.
Speaking at the event, Taye
Girma (PhD), Deputy Director General of the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence
Institute, emphasised that technology is not something built once and left
static, but rather continuously improves and evolves. He urged participants to
pursue and realise their innovative ideas with determination and dedication.
During the training,
participants gained practical skills to translate their AI solution concepts
into action. At the closing ceremony, teams presented and competed with their
AI solution projects.
Participants said they had
gained hands-on knowledge that enabled them to understand the technology and
transform their ideas into tangible products.
To help convert their
projects into operational products, the teams will receive support from the
Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute’s Startup Center.
