MTN Group Fintech Chief
Executive Officer Serigne Dioum has visited Zambia to engage with the company’s
fintech team, customers and key stakeholders on opportunities to expand access
to financial services and support the country’s digital economy.
During the visit, Dioum met
with Finance and National Planning Minister Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, Head of
the Presidential Delivery Unit Kusobile Stewart Kamwambi, Bank of Zambia Deputy
Governor Rekha Chifuwe Mhango, and Micro Finance Zambia Chief Executive Officer
and Managing Director James H. Chona.
The discussions explored how
digital payments, broader access to finance and stronger partnerships can
support government digitisation, economic activity and financial inclusion.
Dioum said the visit
provided an opportunity to hear directly from customers about their experiences
and needs, as MTN continues to explore ways to expand financial services and
strengthen its contribution to Zambia’s digital economy.
As part of the visit, Dioum
and MTN Group Chief Financial Officer Tsholofelo Molefe jointly led a town hall
discussion with the MTN Connectivity and Fintech teams on the company’s
business strategy and shared growth ambitions.
Dioum thanked Komba
Malukutila and the Zambia team for hosting the delegation, commending them for
the open discussions and commitment to growing the business and deepening
financial inclusion.
