Estonia delegation engages Kenya in digital partnership talks

An Estonian delegation, led by Mariin Ratnik, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, convened with Eng. John Kipchumba Tanui, MBS, Principal Secretary of the State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy of Kenya, on the sidelines of the just-ended Connected Africa Summit 2024.

The primary agenda of this high-level meeting was to explore potential partnerships aimed at implementing sectoral reforms, shaping robust policy frameworks, accelerating government digital transformation efforts, and addressing critical emerging issues such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), and data hosting.

Klen Jäärats, Executive Director of ESTDEV, expressed the pride of the Estonian team in cooperating with Kenya for digital transformation through #TeamEurope Initiatives. He emphasized the equal partnership between the two nations and their joint commitment to kick-starting initiatives for developing and testing interoperability frameworks and enhancing digital skills in Kenya.

"Through #TeamEurope Initiatives, ESTDEV is proud to cooperate with Kenya for #DigitalTransformation. As equal partners, we are looking forward to kicking off our partnership for developing and testing interoperability framework and digital skills development in Kenya,” he said.

Estonia, known for its advanced digital infrastructure and e-governance solutions, brings valuable expertise and experience to the table. Through collaboration with Kenya, they aim to leverage this knowledge to drive innovation, efficiency, and inclusivity in Kenya's digital ecosystem.
