The Kenya Kwanza
Government and the NGCDF (National Government Constituency Development Fund) have launched a state-of-the-art constituency digital hub in Ruiru. This innovation
hub is one of the 1,450 digital hubs being rolled out in each ward across the
country, aimed at providing digital skills and job opportunities to the youth.
The launch event was
graced by the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Information, Communications
and Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo, who officially launched the hub. Also present
were Ruiru MP Simon Ng'ang'a Kihara, Kahawa Wenani MCA Bryan Imbala, Kahawa
Sukari MCA Kennedy Odhiambo, ACC Ruiru Division Linet Barongo, and other
leaders.
Under the leadership of
H.E. President Dr. William Samoei Ruto, the digital hub initiative aims to
bridge the digital divide and create opportunities for young people to access
digital skills training, entrepreneurship support, and job opportunities.
The Ruiru constituency
digital hub will offer a range of services, including digital literacy
training, coding, and software development, as well as access to digital tools
and resources. This initiative is expected to benefit the youth in Ruiru and
surrounding areas, providing them with the skills and resources needed to
succeed in the digital age.
The Cabinet Secretary,
Eliud Owalo, in his remark to launch the hub noted the importance of digital
transformation in driving economic growth and creating opportunities for the
youth. "This digital hub is a
critical step towards realizing our vision of a digitally empowered Kenya. We
are committed to supporting initiatives that promote digital inclusion and
drive economic growth."
"We
are committed to supporting the youth in our constituency and across the
country to acquire the digital skills they need to succeed,"
said Ruiru MP Simon Ng'ang'a Kihara. "This
digital hub is a testament to our commitment to empowering the youth and
driving economic growth through digital transformation."
