Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited (EMTS), operating as
9mobile, has announced the appointment of Obafemi Banigbe as its new Chief
Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. Banigbe, a seasoned telecoms expert and technology
business leader, succeeds Juergen Peschel, who will remain as a Consultant to
support the business transformation process.
With extensive experience in the telecoms industry, Obafemi Banigbe
brings a deep understanding of the African business landscape and a proven
track record of translating business objectives into successful strategies. His
appointment is part of 9mobile's preparation for a new phase of business
transformation, aimed at providing superior customer experience and sustained
network quality.
The Board of Directors expressed excitement about Banigbe's appointment,
stating, "He brings along the vision, passion, and years of experience
from diverse environments, which will consolidate our priorities."
He is expected to work closely with the Board and stakeholders to define
long-term business plans and introduce solutions to address the evolving needs
of the Nigerian telecommunication market.
Mr. Banigbe's career spans over two decades, with significant
contributions at Ericsson, Millicom Ghana, and other leading telecoms
companies. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Computer
Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria, and an
MBA from Manchester Business School, UK.
