Kenya’s Principal
Secretary, State Department of ICT and Digital Economy, John Kipchumba Tanui, has
paid a courtesy visit to Roam Electric Kenya, a pioneering technology-driven
company designing and manufacturing electric motorcycles and buses for emerging
markets.
Accompanied by
Lena Miranda, President and CEO of Linköping Science Park Sweden and President
of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation
(IASP), the visit focused on the future of sustainable transport.
Roam Electric
Kenya's innovative vehicles reduce carbon emissions by over 90% for motorcycles
and 80% for buses, while also cutting local emissions and creating financial
value for users. Kenya's reliance on 98% green energy and strong policy support
presents immense potential for innovation and local manufacturing in the
Electric Vehicle (EV) sector.
The visit comes
as Ms. Miranda attends the IASP World Conference this week. The collaboration
between government, industry, and international experts is expected to pave the
way for a greener, more sustainable transportation future in Kenya and beyond.
