Director
General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) in Cameroon, Professor
Philémon Zoo Zame has held discussions with the MTN Group CEO Ralph Mupita at
the Platinum Building. The discussions revolved around improving the quality of
telecommunications services and fostering the development of electronic
communications, vital components for advancing the country’s digital
transformation agenda.
Highlighting
MTN's commitment to Cameroon, Ralph Mupita announced a robust investment plan,
pledging $100 million in 2025 and a total of $300 million over the next three
years. These investment, he said are geared toward enhancing MTN's network
infrastructure and service delivery, ensuring a lasting and sustainable impact
on telecommunications in the country.
Professor
Zoo Zame in his address noted the critical role of quality telecommunications
in driving digitalization, underlining ART's commitment to fostering
collaboration between regulatory bodies and industry leaders like MTN.
Ralph
Mupita, who has led MTN Group since September 1, 2020, reaffirmed the
multinational’s dedication to supporting Cameroon’s digital economy. His
current working visit to the country includes engagements with senior
government officials and telecommunications sector leaders to strengthen
partnerships and explore innovative strategies for sector growth.
