The
Regional African Satellite Communication Organisation (RASCOM) has successfully
held its latest Board of Directors meeting in Cairo, Egypt, marking another
significant step in its mission to champion satellite communications and
digital connectivity across the African continent.

The
meeting brought together key leadership, including the Chairperson of the
Board, Madam Judith Yah Sunday, and the Director General of RASCOM, Mr. Timothy
Ashong. Together with fellow board members, the delegation engaged in
high-level discussions focused on strategic planning, cross-border
collaboration, and innovations needed to accelerate Africa’s digital
transformation through satellite technology.

Held in
one of Africa’s most prominent hubs for space and science, Cairo the gathering
underscored the importance of regional cooperation in shaping a self-reliant
and interconnected Africa. RASCOM reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening
Africa’s satellite infrastructure and enhancing universal access to
telecommunication services, especially in underserved and remote communities.
“Our
board meeting in Cairo reaffirms RASCOM’s unwavering commitment to advancing
satellite communication solutions that respond to Africa’s unique connectivity
needs. Collaborating with partners like the Egyptian Space Agency strengthens
our shared vision for a digitally empowered continent,” Mr. Ashong stated.

As part
of their working visit, the RASCOM Board had the unique opportunity to tour the
state-of-the-art facilities of the Egyptian Space Agency (EgSA), situated in
Egypt’s sprawling Space City. The visit offered an insightful look into the
technological advancements and infrastructure that position Egypt as a critical
player in Africa’s space journey. It also provided a platform for knowledge
exchange and potential collaboration in future satellite projects and research
initiatives.
