MTN
South Sudan has become the first operator to introduce eSIM technology in the
country. The MTN team, led by CEO Monzer Ali visited the National
Communications Authority (NCA) to formally introduce this innovative technology
to the market. The visit also included onboarding sessions for NCA staff,
including Director General Napoleon Adok Gai, to ensure a smooth rollout of the
new service.

During
a joint press conference with NCA and MTN executives, Monzer Ali expressed
pride in leading the charge towards a more connected and digitally empowered
South Sudan. He stated, "Today marks another milestone in South Sudan’s
telecommunications journey. As MTN, we are proud to be the first operator in
the country to launch eSIM technology. This is not just about innovation; it’s
about simplifying connectivity and delivering convenience to our
customers."
eSIM
technology eliminates the need for physical SIM cards, embedding SIM
functionality directly into devices. This innovation enhances user convenience,
provides better security, and supports seamless switching between networks,
empowering customers with greater flexibility.

Director
General Napoleon Adok Gai commended MTN for this pioneering move, noting the
transformative potential of eSIM technology in improving the telecommunications
experience for South Sudanese users. He also highlighted the importance of
focusing on customer support and education to ensure a comprehensive
understanding and adoption of eSIM among users.
Additionally,
the Director General emphasized the NCA’s commitment to supporting MTN and
other operators in advancing the country’s telecommunications infrastructure.
He urged the industry to work towards increasing the availability of
eSIM-enabled devices to promote inclusivity and ensure that the benefits of
this technology are accessible to all.
