Ethiopia drives digital transformation through strategic public-private partnerships

The Ministry of Innovation and Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with several private sector institutions. The agreements, finalized with Cyber Guard Consulting, the Corpo Information and Communication Technology (ICTET) Sector Association, and Nuna Ethiopia, underscore the nation's commitment to fostering innovation, improving digital infrastructure, and creating a robust digital economy.

The Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Beleta Molla noted the transformative potential of these partnerships. "We aim to work with key stakeholders across industries to create a sustainable digital economy, improve sectoral growth, and build a resilient innovation ecosystem," said Dr. Beleta, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving Ethiopia's national digital transformation goals.

Cyber Guard Consulting will play a pivotal role in bolstering Ethiopia’s cybersecurity framework. The company's General Manager, Wondoson Getachew, noted that the agreement aims to strengthen Ethiopia’s digital transformation efforts while enhancing national cybersecurity measures. “This collaboration promotes a robust digital infrastructure for sustainable growth and strengthens Ethiopia’s resilience against cyber threats,” he added.

The Corpo Information and Communication Technology (ICTET) Sector Association is poised to drive the modernization of Ethiopia's ICT industry. Its General Manager, Mr. Ilekele Abate, outlined the association's objectives, which include improving service delivery efficiency, fostering innovative solutions to meet international standards, and contributing to the economic development of the ICT sector. "We are committed to fostering innovation and driving growth in the ICT sector," stated Mr. Abate.

Nuna Ethiopia is set to focus on youth entrepreneurship and agricultural technology. According to its General Manager, Mr. Berhanu Zergawu, the MoU aims to use technology to address challenges in Ethiopia's agricultural sector, enhance food security, and create employment opportunities for the youth. "Our mission is to integrate technology-driven solutions in agriculture to boost productivity and sustainability while empowering young entrepreneurs with skills and opportunities," said Mr. Berhanu.
