The
Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, led by Dr. Bosun Tijani, is set to host the Nigeria-French Technology Roundtable in
collaboration with the Embassy of France in Nigeria. Scheduled to take place in
Lagos on Friday, January 24, 2025, this strategic event aims to foster deeper
collaboration between the Nigerian and French innovation ecosystems,
positioning both nations as key players in the global technology landscape.
The
event comes at a time when Nigeria is actively expanding its technological
trade partnerships to drive economic growth and innovation. France, renowned
for its strong research capabilities, advanced infrastructure, and leadership
in Artificial Intelligence and sustainability, is an ideal partner for
Nigeria’s rapidly growing technology and innovation startup ecosystem.
Speaking
ahead of the roundtable, Dr. Bosun Tijani emphasized the importance of France's
contribution to global technology and its alignment with Nigeria's innovation
strategy. “France’s leadership in technology, sustainability, and
collaboration on a European level provides a solid foundation for meaningful
partnerships. These qualities align perfectly with our vision as a ministry to
foster innovation and support Nigeria’s technology startup ecosystem,” he
stated.
The
Nigeria-French Technology Roundtable will bring together key players from the
private sector in both countries, including representatives from the largest
tech forum in Europe, VivaTech. This gathering will serve as a launchpad for
building sustainable partnerships, promoting knowledge exchange, and exploring
new opportunities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, digital
infrastructure, and sustainable innovation.
With
Nigeria's vibrant startup ecosystem and France’s expertise in research and
technological development, the event promises to create a platform for
impactful collaborations that drive mutual economic benefits. The roundtable is
also expected to facilitate discussions on trade opportunities, investment
flows, and innovative solutions to global challenges, further cementing
Nigeria's role as a leader in Africa’s digital economy.
