MTN
South Africa has hosted an exclusive gathering of key stakeholders and partners
from the public and private sectors for a special viewing of President Cyril
Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation
Address (SONA). More than just an event to watch the address,
the evening served as a platform to strengthen partnerships and reaffirm MTN’s
commitment to supporting South Africa’s strategic ambitions.
During
the event, MTN South Africa’s CEO,
Charles Molapisi, highlighted the company’s dedication to building a better future through digital
transformation. With an investment of over R9 billion last year to enhance
network infrastructure, MTN continues to lead in expanding digital access, improving connectivity,
and driving economic growth.
A
key theme of the evening was the urgent need to address youth unemployment. Molapisi said that the
future of work depends on equipping
young people with future-fit skills to thrive in the digital
economy, and MTN has set forth a bold
ambition to have a software developer in every home, a vision
that aligns with the company’s broader goal of bridging the digital divide and fostering a more inclusive economy.
According
to him, MTN South Africa remains steadfast in its mission to connect people beyond just telecommunications.
By enabling digital inclusion,
supporting innovation, and fostering impact-driven partnerships,
the company is shaping a future where technology serves as a catalyst for
progress.
