Ethiopian Airlines is celebrating yet another milestone as its Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, receives the esteemed “Leadership in Connecting Africa through Transport Award” at the Africa Prosperity Champions Awards. The recognition was presented during the Presidential Gala Dinner on February 1, 2025, at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra, Ghana, as part of the Africa Prosperity Dialogues 2025.

Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Tasew dedicated the award to the airline’s leadership—past and present—and acknowledged the relentless efforts of the entire Ethiopian Airlines team. “I am deeply honored to receive this award on behalf of the visionary leaders of Ethiopian Airlines. This is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our team. Our mission has always been to connect Africa and drive economic growth through seamless air transport. This recognition inspires us to continue enhancing connectivity and supporting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA),” he remarked.

The “Leadership in Connecting Africa through Transport Award” is a tribute to individuals and organizations that have made remarkable contributions to strengthening transport infrastructure and fostering regional connectivity across the continent. Ethiopian Airlines’ outstanding network, spanning over 65 destinations within Africa, has positioned it as a key driver of the continent’s integration. The airline has continually invested in a modern fleet, cutting-edge cargo facilities, and expanded route networks, reinforcing its role as Africa’s leading aviation hub.

Beyond aviation, Ethiopian Airlines plays a fundamental role in facilitating trade, tourism, and business across Africa. By offering reliable air transport solutions, the airline has bolstered economic ties between African nations, making cross-border movement more efficient and accessible. Its commitment to infrastructure development and seamless connectivity directly supports Africa’s broader vision of a single, integrated market under the AfCFTA.

The 2025 Africa Prosperity Dialogues, themed “Delivering Africa’s Single Market Through Infrastructure: Invest, Connect, and Integrate,” aligns seamlessly with Ethiopian Airlines’ mission to create efficient air transport corridors that drive economic integration. The airline’s sustained efforts demonstrate how transport infrastructure serves as a catalyst for Africa’s economic growth, trade expansion, and regional collaboration.
