Fintech has announced the appointment of Nikiwe Tanga as its new Chief Legal
Officer, effective 1 April 2025. With an impressive 22-year tenure at MTN
Group, Tanga brings deep legal and regulatory expertise that spans multiple
markets, reinforcing the company's commitment to excellence in its fintech
operations across Africa.
Tanga's career
at MTN has been marked by significant achievements, including establishing the
legal function for MTN's Middle East operations and playing a pivotal role in
the successful listing of MTN Nigeria on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. In her
most recent role, she was instrumental in developing the legal framework for
MTN Group Fintech’s expansion strategy across 14 markets, ensuring compliance
and robust governance.

CEO of MTN Group Fintech, expressed confidence in Tanga’s leadership, stating
that her extensive experience and strategic insight will be invaluable as the

A distinguished
legal professional, Tanga is an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South
Africa and holds an LLB from the University of Fort Hare. She further enhanced
her leadership credentials with an MBA from Henley Business School (Africa) in
2024, complemented by advanced executive training. Her appointment underscores
MTN Group Fintech’s focus on strengthening governance and fostering sustainable
growth as it continues to innovate in digital financial services.
