The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has hosted a high-level delegation from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) in a knowledge-sharing initiative aimed at strengthening ICT governance across East Africa. The benchmarking visit, led by CA Board Chairperson Mary Mungai, underscored the growing collaboration between Kenyan and Ugandan telecommunications regulators in shaping the region's digital future.

The engagement provided a platform for in-depth discussions on regulatory best practices, with particular focus on governance models, digital inclusion strategies, and innovation frameworks. Both institutions exchanged insights on balancing market growth with consumer protection in rapidly evolving telecommunications landscapes.

"This visit reinforces our shared commitment to excellence in ICT regulation," stated Chairperson Mungai during the sessions. "By learning from each other's experiences, we can collectively accelerate digital transformation while addressing common challenges."

The Ugandan delegation examined Kenya's approaches to spectrum management, universal service fund implementation, and emerging technology regulation areas where Kenya has established regional leadership. Conversely, Kenyan regulators expressed interest in Uganda's successes in rural connectivity and digital literacy programs.

The meeting highlighted both nations' progress toward implementing East African Community harmonization protocols in the communications sector. Participants noted how aligned regulatory approaches can facilitate cross-border digital services and infrastructure development, ultimately benefiting citizens and businesses throughout the region.
