South Korean tech giant,
Samsung Electronics has appointed Lee Young-hee as the president of the Global
Marketing Center for Device eXperience (DX) division that overseas its mobile
business.
Her appointments make her the first
female president outside the owner's family members in its annual executive
reshuffle.
In a statement announcing Ms.
Young-hee's appointment early this week, it noted that she joined Samsung
Electronics in 2007 and later promoted to Vice President in 2012. As a
marketing expert from L’Oreal, Lee is credited for successfully building
Samsung Galaxy mobile phone brand.
“By promoting a
high-performing female executive to the top position, we are demonstrating our
commitment to growing talented female employees,” the statement said.
She is among seven new
presidents announced at this year’s corporate reshuffle, which comes after Jay
Y.Lee, de facto leader of Samsung Group, was promoted to executive chairman in
October.
