The Communications Authority of
Kenya has intensified efforts to promote artificial intelligence and robotics
innovation among young people through a partnership with the International
Telecommunication Union, the Ministry of Information, Communications and the
Digital Economy and the Ministry of Education.
The initiative was
highlighted during a joint innovation exhibition workshop held at the Centre
for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa in Karen, Nairobi,
bringing together learners, teachers and parents.

The programme is aimed at
equipping students and innovators with digital skills required for the future
technology-driven economy through innovation hubs, training programmes,
robotics competitions and mentorship initiatives.
Learners from selected
schools across the country are being encouraged to develop creative solutions
using artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies as part of
efforts to strengthen local innovation capacity.
The Communications Authority
said innovation remains critical in driving economic growth, creating
employment opportunities and positioning Kenya as a regional leader in digital
transformation.

The collaboration also seeks
to bridge the digital divide by expanding access to modern technology and
digital learning resources for young innovators across the country.
During the engagement, the
authority also conducted awareness sessions on Child Online Protection to help
students, teachers and parents understand safe and responsible internet usage
and protect learners from harmful online content.
The initiative forms part of
Kenya’s broader efforts to nurture local digital talent and advance the
country’s ambition of becoming a leading global technology and innovation hub.
