MTN Group has announced the
retirement of two long-serving Independent Non-Executive Directors, Stan Miller
and Nkululeko S., marking the end of nearly a decade of service on the
company’s board.
The farewell was held ahead
of the company’s Annual General Meeting, with MTN Group President and Chief
Executive Officer Ralph Mupita acknowledging their contribution to the
telecommunications group and its governance structures.

According to the company,
the departing board members played a significant role in providing oversight,
strategic guidance, and constructive challenge to executive management during a
period of transformation and growth.
MTN leadership expressed
appreciation for their contribution, noting that their tenure helped strengthen
governance processes and supported the company’s evolution into a pan-African
organisation with a broader development mandate across the continent.

It also highlighted the
contributions of the outgoing directors, describing their leadership as
principled and steady through periods of change and expansion, noting that
their input ensured that MTN’s purpose remained central to decision-making
while the company expanded its role in promoting digital inclusion,
connectivity, and socio-economic development across Africa.
Group Chairman, Mcebisi
Jonas was also cited as emphasising that leadership transitions, when properly
managed, represent renewal rather than disruption.

MTN Group leadership,
including senior executives such as Ralph Mupita, Tsholofelo Molefe, Nompilo
Morafo, and Ferdi Moolman, reflected on their engagements with the outgoing
directors and acknowledged their long-standing service to the organisation.
The company stated that Stan
Miller and Nkululeko S.’s departure marks the conclusion of an important
chapter in MTN’s governance history, while reaffirming its commitment to
maintaining strong leadership and continuity in its strategic direction.
