The
Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Hon. Emma Theofelus, has
called on Telecom Namibia to adopt a sustainable business model that ensures
profitability while maintaining quality service delivery to the public.
She
made the remarks during the Telecom Namibia Annual General Meeting held on 01
June 2026 in Windhoek.
The
Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening Telecom Namibia’s position
as a commercial state-owned enterprise capable of competing effectively in the
telecommunications sector while continuing to serve national communication
needs. She also reaffirmed the Ministry’s support in restoring and enhancing
the company’s reputation as a reliable service provider.

Telecom
Namibia Board Chairperson, Ms. Patricia Hauuanga, noted that ongoing investment
in network modernization is critical to improving service quality. She
indicated that ageing infrastructure continues to contribute to network
disruptions and service challenges.
She
added that the company has developed a long-term modernization plan aimed at
upgrading infrastructure to meet growing demand and improve overall service
performance.

The
AGM brought together members of the Telecom Namibia Board, management, and
government representatives to review operational performance and discuss
strategic priorities for the company.
Stakeholders
reiterated the importance of aligning business sustainability with
infrastructure development to ensure improved connectivity and service delivery
across Namibia.
