Google
has entered into a strategic collaboration with Kenya’s Ministry of Tourism and
Wildlife and Magical Kenya to support the country’s tourism growth through
data-driven insights, artificial intelligence tools, and digital skills
development.
The
partnership was announced by Google Africa Managing Director, Alex Okosi, who
highlighted Kenya’s long-standing creative and cultural influence as a
foundation for expanding its global tourism appeal.

The
initiative is aligned with the “Origin of Wonder” campaign and is aimed at
strengthening Kenya’s position as a leading global tourism destination by
leveraging technology to improve travel experiences and industry performance.
According
to Okosi, Google’s technology will help provide real-time data insights into
traveller preferences, enabling more targeted tourism planning and marketing
strategies.
He
noted that AI-powered tools will also assist visitors in designing personalized
travel experiences based on their interests, while enhancing discoverability of
destinations across the country.

The
partnership further seeks to expand digital skills among young people and small
businesses within Kenya’s tourism value chain, enabling them to better access
and benefit from tourism-related opportunities.
Officials
say the collaboration is expected to contribute to increased tourist arrivals,
job creation, stronger local enterprises, and greater economic value retention
within Kenya’s tourism sector.
The
initiative reflects a broader effort to integrate digital innovation into
tourism development as countries increasingly adopt technology to enhance
competitiveness in the global travel industry.
