The
Autorité de Régulation des Télécommunications et des Postes du Sénégal (ARTP)
has announced progress in its efforts to promote digital infrastructure sharing
following the conclusion of Proofs of Concept (PoC) on RAN sharing and FTTH
fiber unbundling.
The
exercises, completed on Thursday, June 4, 2026, were conducted in collaboration
with telecommunications operators, internet service providers, equipment
manufacturers, and other sector stakeholders. According to the regulator, the
trials confirmed the technical and operational feasibility of
infrastructure-sharing models under real network conditions.
ARTP
stated that the outcomes demonstrate the potential of RAN sharing and fiber
unbundling as key mechanisms for optimizing investment, expanding digital
network coverage, and improving access to digital services across Senegal.
The
regulator further noted that the pilot phase helped identify key technical,
operational, and economic challenges that will need to be addressed in the
ongoing development of the national regulatory framework for digital
infrastructure.
The
authority commended stakeholders for their collaboration and reaffirmed its
commitment to continued consultations aimed at creating an enabling environment
for infrastructure sharing in the country’s telecommunications sector.
According
to ARTP, the findings from the PoCs will serve as a foundation for
strengthening network efficiency and supporting a more inclusive and
sustainable digital transformation agenda for Senegal.
