UniPod Malawi has convened government stakeholders, innovation leaders, and development partners for a strategic engagement workshop focused on the AI for Public Good Challenge, an initiative supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and timbuktoo.

The workshop sought to identify key public sector challenges that could be addressed through Artificial Intelligence, creating opportunities for university students and young innovators to develop practical, technology-driven solutions.

Participants explored potential AI applications across several sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education, public administration, climate resilience, and citizen service delivery. The discussions were aimed at aligning innovation efforts with national development priorities and public sector needs.

Organisers said the initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between government institutions, academia, and the broader innovation ecosystem in advancing the use of AI for social and economic development.

The AI for Public Good Challenge is expected to provide a platform for young innovators to design solutions that improve public services, strengthen institutions, and address pressing challenges facing communities.

UniPod Malawi noted that empowering local talent to create scalable and impactful technologies remains central to its mission of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the country and across Africa.
