Gabon and China have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in digital technology, innovation, and strategic infrastructure during a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian.

The discussions took place between Gabon's Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization and Innovation and the Director General of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), focusing on expanding collaboration to support Gabon's digital transformation agenda.

According to officials, the meeting underscored the shared commitment of both countries to deepen cooperation in digital innovation and the development of strategic technological infrastructure capable of supporting sustainable economic growth.

Talks covered global trends in innovation and the evolving digital landscape, as well as progress on several joint initiatives being implemented between the two countries.

Key areas of cooperation include expanding digital connectivity, strengthening data sovereignty, developing infrastructure for hosting critical digital systems, enhancing institutional capacity for digital governance, and accelerating Gabon's national digital transition.

The two sides also discussed the importance of building resilient digital ecosystems through long-term investment, technology transfer, and knowledge sharing to strengthen public sector capabilities and improve digital service delivery.

Officials noted that the partnership is intended to support the deployment of high-impact digital infrastructure while fostering local expertise to ensure the sustainability of future digital initiatives.

The engagement reflects Gabon's broader strategy to establish international partnerships that promote innovation, strengthen technological capabilities, and accelerate the country's digital economy in line with the national development vision of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.

The meeting formed part of wider engagements during the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of the New Champions, where governments, international organizations, and business leaders discussed emerging technologies, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
