Rwanda President Paul Kagame
has met with Bill Gates, Founder and Chair of the Gates Foundation, in Kigali
to discuss strengthening collaboration between Rwanda and the foundation across
key development areas.
The meeting focused on
advancing the longstanding partnership between Rwanda and the Gates Foundation,
with discussions centred on accelerating cooperation in healthcare,
agricultural transformation, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital public
infrastructure.
President Kagame and Gates
explored opportunities to deepen collaboration in areas aligned with Rwanda’s
development priorities, including the use of technology and innovation to
improve public services, strengthen economic resilience and support sustainable
growth.
The Gates Foundation has
worked with Rwanda for several years on initiatives spanning health systems,
agriculture, innovation and development programmes aimed at improving outcomes
for communities across the country.
The discussions reaffirmed
the commitment of both sides to leveraging partnerships, technology and
innovation to address development challenges and support Rwanda’s continued
transformation agenda.
