Mozambique is advancing efforts to enhance digital trust and expand the use of secure electronic transactions following discussions between the National Institute of Information Technologies (INTIC, IP) and Tablu Tech on the proposed strategic partnership to develop the MoDI Sign platform.

The meeting focused on the evolution of MoDI Sign, a platform designed to provide Advanced Digital Signatures and support a more secure and trusted digital environment in Mozambique.

The engagement was chaired by INTIC President, Prof. Dr. Eng. Lourino Chemane, and brought together officials from INTIC and representatives of Tablu Tech. Discussions covered the development of the platform, digital trust, digital identity and the expansion of electronic signature services.

Prof. Chemane said the platform could provide significant value to citizens by facilitating the registration and operationalisation of the Digital Certification System, helping to make the process safer, more accessible and more efficient.

INTIC Director of Licensing and Certification, Laisse Mucavele, said the platform would also contribute to expanding access to INTIC services, particularly electronic transaction services and public key infrastructure.

She stressed that trust remains fundamental to the credibility of digital signatures and called for services that are accessible, secure and designed to simplify digital transactions for citizens as well as public and private institutions.

Tablu Tech General Manager José Samo Gudo said the development of MoDI Sign, alongside the implementation of digital identity and biometric solutions in major national projects, had provided a broader understanding of the role digital trust can play in the transformation of government and the development of Mozambique’s digital economy.

According to Gudo, the evolution of the platform is expected to widen access to Advanced Digital Signatures, reduce the effort required for individual institutions to integrate with INTIC and accelerate the adoption of national digital certificates.

The platform could also support greater interoperability between public and private digital services while contributing to national efforts to strengthen digital identity management and anti-fraud mechanisms.
