The President of the Council of the African Space Agency, Dr Tidiane Ouattara, has
presented and signed a trilogy of books examining Africa’s space ambitions,
governance, sovereignty and the role of space in the continent’s socio-economic
development and security.
The presentation took place
on September 24, 2026, during the Africa Space Expo (ASPEX 2026) in Abidjan,
Côte d’Ivoire, bringing together discussions on the continent’s growing space
sector and its future prospects.
The three books presented by
Dr. Ouattara are “African Space Ambition: Performance and Sustainability of
Programmes,” “Spatial Governance in Africa: Models, Challenges and Future
Prospects,” and “Africa in the Space Age: Sovereignty, Socio-Economic Development
and Security.”
Through the trilogy, Dr.
Ouattara offers reflections on the sovereignty, governance and structuring of
African space programmes, addressing key issues shaping the continent’s
development and participation in the global space sector.
The presentation and book
signing provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing and reflection on the
future of space in Africa, with the trilogy contributing to discussions around
how the continent can strengthen its space ambitions and programmes.
The engagement formed part
of activities at ASPEX 2026 in Abidjan, which provided a platform for
stakeholders to exchange knowledge and perspectives on Africa’s evolving space
ecosystem.
