MTN Group President and Chief Executive Officer Ralph Mupita has hosted Discovery Limited founder and chief executive Adrian Gore at MTN’s headquarters in South Africa for discussions on artificial intelligence, leadership principles and the country’s ambition to achieve 3% gross domestic product (GDP) growth.

Mupita said he had the “pleasure and privilege” of hosting Gore at the MTN headquarters at the 14th Avenue Innovation Centre.

The meeting brought together leaders of two companies whose origins date back to the early years of South Africa’s transition to democracy.

Discovery Limited started operations in 1992, two years before MTN began operating, Mupita said, noting that the origins of both companies coincided with the “birth and dawn of the democracy of South Africa.”

In reflecting on the meeting, Mupita thanked Gore for what he described as an “awesome conversation” on The Four Principles, artificial intelligence and South Africa’s ambition to achieve 3% GDP growth.
