The Rwanda Green Fund has
handed over three automatic weather stations installed through the Green
Gicumbi Project to Meteo Rwanda to support climate monitoring and agricultural
planning.
The Rwanda Green Fund’s office formalised the handover, where Meteo Rwanda Director General Aimable
joined the fund’s Chief Executive Officer, Teddy Mugabo, for the occasion.
The stations collect local
weather and soil data to help inform climate monitoring and agricultural
planning, providing information to support communities in the areas they serve.
With Meteo Rwanda responsible for managing and maintaining the stations, the
investment is expected to continue supporting the communities for which it was
established.
The handover strengthens the
role of Meteo Rwanda in maintaining the weather-monitoring infrastructure and
ensuring that the data collected continues to contribute to climate monitoring
and agricultural decision-making.
