Zeepay in talks with Bank of Ghana to resolve forex licence issue

Ghana’s leading digital remittance firm, Zeepay said it’s having discussions with the Bank of Ghana to resolve issues surrounding the recent circular titled ‘‘Fine and Suspension of Forex License of Zeepay Ghana Limited’ issued by the central bank.

According to a statement released by Zeepay’s management, it maintained that the Bank’s recent decision did not expressly impact its general operating license.

“However, please note that our general operating licence was not expressly impacted by the Bank’s recent decision. We will ensure strict compliance with all regulations and guidelines,” it said.

Founded in 2014, Zeepay Ghana Ltd is a leading provider of digital remittance termination and ancillary mobile financial services in Africa and the Caribbean. The company has a footprint in over 20 countries worldwide and partners with major remittance players.

Zeepay is a wholly owned Ghanaian company and is regulated by the Bank of Ghana under the license #00001.
