MTN has recently convened a gathering of over 100 technology leaders across its operational footprint for the "Inspired Leadership for Africa’s Progress" summit. This distinguished event attracted experts representing diverse technological domains, including Network, IT, Fintech, Digital, Enterprise, and Security, and served as a platform for celebrating excellence and innovation while acknowledging the outstanding achievements of MTN's technology teams.

The Technology Leadership Teams Awards for 2023 recognized exemplary performance in various categories, with MTN Uganda garnering the prestigious title of Overall Winner. MTN Nigeria earned three notable awards, including Information Technology, Network, and Overall Runner Up, followed closely by MTN South Africa, which secured two awards in Information Security and Overall Runner Up. MTN Côte d’Ivoire also demonstrated prowess by winning the Operations and Fintech awards, while MTN Benin and MTN Cameroon claimed Digital Services and Enterprise awards, respectively.

Beyond team accolades, the summit acknowledged GSSC-Global Sourcing and Supply Chain and MTN Group Finance with Collaboration and Partnership awards for their remarkable contributions, as highlighted in the Technology Support Awards for 2023.

The event further acknowledged individuals for their exceptional leadership in the Technology Leadership Individual Awards:

Mazen FARAH - MBA, PMP - (MTN South Sudan) – CIO of the Year

Andile Nkosingiphile Maseko - (MTN Eswatini) – CISO of the Year

Rami Farah - (MTN South Africa) – CTO of the Year

Gideon Adekile (MTN Nigeria) – Technology Ambassador of the Year

Monzer Ali (MTN Uganda) – Technology Personality of the Year

While the summit served as a platform for recognizing achievements, it also fostered an environment for sharing ideas and cultivating new avenues for collaboration and innovation. Notably, the absence of MTN Ghana during the event raises concerns about its position in technological development within the MTN Group. This absence serves as a call to action for MTN Ghana to actively participate in future events and initiatives, ensuring it remains at the forefront of technological innovation within the MTN Group.
