The Acting Director-General of the Regional African
Satellite Communications Organization (RASCOM), Timothy Adi Ashong, has participated
in a panel discussion on "The Frontlines of the Spectrum War" at the
just-ended 2024 SATELLITE Conference and Exhibition held at the Walter E.
Washington Convention Center in Washington DC, USA.
Mr. Ashong shared his valuable insights and expertise as the Acting Director-General
of RASCOM and addressed the pressing issues faced by commercial satellite
companies. He also discussed the intricate dynamics of the spectrum war, having
been at the forefront of satellite communication efforts in the African region, offered solutions to
mitigate challenges and advised on the measures that commercial satellite
companies need to take to navigate the complex landscape effectively.
The
SATELLITE Conference and Exhibition has been connecting and uniting
professionals from various commercial markets, including broadcasting, media
& entertainment, government/military, aviation, maritime, automotive,
financial, healthcare, and telecommunications for the past 43 years.
The
panellists further explored the implications of FCC proceedings on satellite
industry stakeholders and examined potential solutions to mitigate challenges.
They also focused on how these spectrum-related issues impact commercial
satellite companies and what measures these companies need to take to navigate
the complex landscape effectively.
Additionally,
the panellists discussed potential new bandwidth-related issues that may arise
in the future as the industry continues to innovate and expand.
