Segun Ogunsanya, outgoing CEO of Airtel Africa Group,
has been honored with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th
African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2024.
The award recognizes Ogunsanya's exceptional
leadership and contributions to Africa's socio-economic growth and development,
particularly in the telecommunications and mobile money sectors. During his
12-year tenure at Airtel Africa, he led the company to achieve double-digit
revenue growth and introduced innovative products across the continent.
With over 35 years of business management experience,
Ogunsanya has held leadership roles at Coca-Cola, Ecobank, and Nigerian
Bottling Company Ltd. He is an electronics engineer and chartered accountant.
Ogunsanya expressed his humility and gratitude for the
recognition, dedicating the award to those who have supported him throughout
his journey. He remains committed to enhancing digital and financial inclusion
in Africa and inspiring the next generation of business leaders.
The award will be presented at the 9th ALM Africa
Summit on July 17-18, 2024, at the UK House of Lords. Ogunsanya will retire
from Airtel Africa on July 1, 2024, and become the inaugural Chair of the
Airtel Africa Charitable Foundation, building on his sustainability work as
CEO.
