Dakar served as
the continental hub for digital advancement as Senegal hosted the 26th session
of the African Telecommunications Union's Board of Directors on May 29, 2025.
The high-level gathering reinforced Senegal's strategic commitment to
pan-African digital integration under President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's
administration, showcasing the nation's New Deal for Technology as a blueprint
for inclusive technological progress.

Senegal's Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Alioune Sall
Government
representatives and telecommunications leaders from across Africa convened to
align strategies for bridging the continent's digital divide. The discussions
centered on three critical pillars: equitable technology access, harmonized
infrastructure development, and cybersecurity resilience. Senegal's Minister of
Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Alioune Sall stressed the
nation's determination to transform into a regional digital powerhouse through
strategic investments in human capital and technological infrastructure.
The summit
highlighted the African Telecommunications Union's pivotal role as a catalyst
for continental connectivity, with member states committing to collaborative
approaches for building interoperable digital ecosystems. Senegal's leadership
in hosting this strategic dialogue underscores its vision of digital
sovereignty as the foundation for economic transformation and social
empowerment across Africa.

As the sessions
concluded, participants endorsed a roadmap for accelerating Africa's digital
transformation, with Senegal positioned as both architect and beneficiary of
this continental shift toward technological self-reliance. The outcomes
reaffirm digital infrastructure as critical infrastructure for Africa's 21st
century development, with the Union serving as the coordinating body for
realizing this shared ambition.
