The African Advanced Level
Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) has hosted a delegation from the GSMA
for a strategic engagement focused on innovation and climate resilience.
During the session, AFRALTI
showcased its ongoing collaboration with Wireless Planet on hyperlocalised
weather solutions, highlighting the role of partnerships in scaling climate
adaptation initiatives across the region. The project demonstrates how data-driven
technologies can support communities in responding more effectively to
climate-related challenges.

A key feature of the visit
was a tour of the weather station installed at the AFRALTI campus, where
participants were introduced to the use of real-time environmental data in
supporting informed decision-making and enhancing resilience.
The meeting brought together
representatives from GSMA, including Ida Juma and Phillippe, alongside AFRALTI
officials Leonard Mabele, Job Mbugua, Philip Yauma, Maxwell Opondo of
Zerobionic, and members of the Wireless Planet project team.
Both parties reaffirmed
their commitment to leveraging technology, innovation, and collaboration to
drive sustainable development and strengthen climate action efforts across
Africa.
