The National Communication
Authority (NCA) has hosted final-year ICT students from St. Lawrence Academy
for an educational tour of its technical facilities, providing them with
practical exposure to the technologies and systems that underpin the country's
communications infrastructure.
The academic visit was
designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry
experience by giving students an opportunity to engage directly with
telecommunications and cybersecurity professionals.
During the tour, NCA
technical experts introduced the students to the operation of communication
towers, the management of radio spectrum and network frequencies, and the
monitoring of cybersecurity threats in real time.
The students also visited
the Authority's Network Operations Centre (NOC), Data Centre, Spectrum
Management facilities and the Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), where
they observed the technologies and processes used to ensure reliable
communications services and protect national digital infrastructure.
According to the NCA, the
initiative forms part of its commitment to nurturing future talent in
engineering, cybersecurity and digital innovation by exposing students to
practical applications of the knowledge acquired in the classroom.
The Authority said engaging
young people through technical tours and educational outreach programmes is
essential to developing the skilled workforce needed to support the country's
growing digital economy and strengthen its communications and cybersecurity
ecosystem.
