The Director General of the
Senegalese Agency for Space Studies (ASES), Maram Kaire, has joined French
astronaut Thomas Pesquet in a public engagement aimed at bringing space science
closer to citizens and inspiring interest in the space sector.
The event, held in Dakar,
featured discussions around Pesquet’s career, experiences from his space
missions and his perspectives on the future of space exploration.
Kaire’s participation
highlighted Senegal’s growing efforts to promote space science, develop public
awareness and encourage interest in the diverse opportunities within the space
industry.
The session provided an
opportunity for the public to gain deeper insights into the realities of space
missions, the scientific challenges involved and the wide range of careers that
support the sector, including engineering, research, technology development and
innovation.
ASES said the engagement
aligns with its mission to make space sciences more accessible to communities,
build human capacity and contribute to the emergence of a stronger space
culture in Senegal.
Thomas Pesquet, a European
Space Agency (ESA) astronaut, has completed two missions aboard the
International Space Station, with his career reflecting the role of
international cooperation, scientific advancement and knowledge sharing in
space exploration.
