Kenya is strengthening its
collaboration with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) to
accelerate the country's artificial intelligence agenda and support the
implementation of key digital transformation initiatives.
The partnership was
discussed during a meeting between Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Information,
Communications and the Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau, and a delegation
from the Tony Blair Institute led by Kenya Country Director Magdalene Kariuki.
The discussions focused on
advancing the implementation of Kenya's National Artificial Intelligence Policy
and expanding the use of AI across government to improve public service
delivery and institutional efficiency.
Priority areas identified
during the meeting included AI capacity building for public servants, the
rollout of AI solutions across government ministries, the development of
AI-ready data infrastructure and the application of artificial intelligence to
strengthen service delivery, transparency and operational efficiency in sectors
such as agriculture, healthcare, finance and security.
The Tony Blair Institute
reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kenya through technical expertise,
institutional collaboration, AI readiness assessments in selected government
ministries and knowledge exchange with global leaders in artificial intelligence.
Government officials said
the partnership is expected to accelerate AI adoption across public
institutions and support the country's ambition of positioning itself as a
leading digital economy in Africa through the responsible deployment of
emerging technologies.
