Kenya is advancing efforts
to attract strategic investments and deepen technology partnerships as the
Office of the Special Envoy on Technology engages with the National Investment
and Financial Corporation of Africa (NIFCA) on opportunities to support the
country’s digital and economic transformation agenda.
Kenya’s Special Envoy on
Technology, Ambassador Philip Thigo, held discussions with NIFCA Chief
Executive Officer Daniel Mainda during a visit to the organisation, where they
reviewed ongoing collaboration and explored the next phase of joint initiatives.
The engagement focused on
translating Kenya’s international investment and technology engagements into
tangible partnerships, investments, and outcomes that contribute to national
development.
Ambassador Thigo noted that
recent collaborations have supported Kenya’s strategic engagements, including
Presidential and official visits to Italy and Finland, discussions in Silicon
Valley, and engagements in Geneva with global partners such as the World
Economic Forum.
He said these engagements
have created opportunities for dialogue around investment, technology,
innovation, and Kenya’s broader economic transformation goals.
The meeting also considered
Kenya’s participation in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA)
High-Level Week and how the platform can be leveraged to advance a focused
pipeline of strategic technology and investment partnerships.
The Office of the Special
Envoy on Technology said continued collaboration with investment partners will
remain critical as Kenya seeks to strengthen its position as a technology and
innovation hub while attracting global partnerships to support sustainable
economic growth.
