Senegal and the United
States are exploring opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in
digital technologies, with discussions focusing on cybersecurity, artificial
intelligence, connectivity and the development of the digital economy.
Senegal’s Minister of
Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Samba Diouf, held discussions with a
delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Senegal. The delegation was led by Chargé
d’Affaires a.i. Jennifer Davis Paguada and included Katherine Musgrove, Head of
the Embassy’s Economic Section.
The meeting examined
opportunities to strengthen links between initiatives supported by the U.S.
Embassy, the Senegal Digital Factory and Senegal’s wider digital ecosystem.
The two sides also discussed
ways to promote networking and partnerships between American and Senegalese
companies, particularly in areas aligned with Senegal’s digital transformation
priorities.
Particular attention was
given to the priorities of the New Deal Technologique, including strengthening
cybersecurity, advancing artificial intelligence, expanding connectivity and
supporting the growth of the digital economy.
As part of efforts to deepen
engagement, the parties are considering the organisation of a dedicated
workshop to present the vision and priorities of the New Deal Technologique to
American stakeholders and identify potential areas for cooperation.
